After dropping her at about 45 mph in heavy I-40 traffic on the 16th last month, I feared the Pearl was headed to Davy Jones locker. But! The insurance decided not to total her and today I stopped by Honda/Yamaha of Knoxville to learn that most parts are in and they should be starting repairs early next week. May even be done by the end of the week! This would be perfect timing, as the cast comes off my left wrist next Friday. I've already replaced all of my gear (all destroyed protecting my hide).

Well, certainly not good to hear that you went down, but great news to hear that you are ok and the bike, well, that can always be fixed and or replaced. Good news for sure.

ER people were amazed. They got the call that a motorcycle wreck on I-40 was coming in and expected DOA or flood everywhere. My gear was destroyed, but I had all of my skin intact. Just a slight crack on the left wrist, and really pounded back and ribs. Blessed to be in one piece.

That's great news (I guess). If that's what you wanted, then great. As long as the frame isn't bent, then you should be good to go!

Judy and I had talked it over. The Black Pearl has never let us down, and we know the exact service history of it. A used bike is usually a bit of a gamble unless you know the PO. ABS would've been great, but the Pearl is a great machine and it looks like the damage is limited to plastic and one bent engine guard. I looked with a bright light at the mount for it, and it looked undamaged. Honda to start on it tomorrow or Thursday. Really looking forward to loosing this cast Friday!

The Pearl rests in her homeport bearth! Picked her up this afternoon and after a brief shakedown cruise over Norris Dam, brought her into the garage to reload the bags, mount the GPS, new Air Wings, Hand Wings, and touch up the scrapes on the front rim powdercoat. Felt great riding her home, seemed to relieve a lot of tension in the back.
Phil @ Honda/Yamaha of Knoxville did a great job bringing her back to "ship-shape".
