I've lost one of the $3 rubber hex plugs from one of the bolts on my valve covers. I was wondering if anyone had a good trick for securing these to keep from loosing them.

I didn't put them back in once I pulled them out. You could probably use a small dab of silicone to keep it in place.

+1 RTV (black & clear)sits right beside Monster Tape and the 2lb Hammer in the "Fix All" section of my Garages.

Make your own, just use RTV black silly cone and fill the hole, then wipe off leaving black silicone in hole. If you want it really neat just dip finger in Alcohol first.

About that 2 lb. hammer, if that hammer won't fix it you must have an electrical problem.

If you simply push them in all the way, they will stay. No need for glue or anything else. You probably just didn't have them inserted properly.
