I have been helping a fellow that was injured over 30 years ago (broke his back motor cross racing) get back into riding. He bought a nice looking 1500 Trike and I have been helping with the changes needed for him to ride. Finally found and installed an original shifter arm and attached the Pingel Shifter. Problem it appears is that there is a great deal of "play" in the travel of the shifter arm before it attempts to engage the next gear (make the shift). I am not a 1500 guy and thus thought I would toss this out to see if there "might" be a chance to take some of that out that "I" could do. Hate to see him need to put this in the shop. I also am thinking of how to "mod" the shifter arm to shorten for a quicker throw of the Pingel. All suggestions welcomed.

I'm not up on the 1500's either. I do remember that I needed to shorten and move the shift point down on an old Penton we flat tracked. One notch was too far. We were able to heat it with a torch and bend it down slightly, then heat the 90 degree bend to straighten and then bend it further up the bar. Worked great, and held up for that season (I sold it after that). For the GL, I'd rather find a spare, cut it, and have a machinist make a shortened attachment.
Or, take it to Lewis!
