While on a ride Bart put together at the Smokers and Scooters 2015, we went through an area called Big Stone Gap. As they main product has been coal, the bottom has dropped out for them for reasons best discussed in another thread. They are totally focused now in promoting the great riding area they have and are building trails for adventure riders and 4-wheelers. www.appalachianbackroads.com/
If you go through there you'll want to stop at the Dairy Delite for lunch. www.google.com/maps/place/Dari+Delite/@36.870903,-82.771182,3a,75y,139.78h,90t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sdARgis1jHelDZSdlZstwHQ!2e0!4m2!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0xa41e29d787239399!6m1!1e1

That area is basically my back yard. Rode through a lot of it last Saturday while taking a fellow Goldwinger's ashes to be scattered on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are sure going to miss him. Part of the route we rode was 421 which is called "The Snake". Sure going to miss these roads when we move to FL full time.
