Where did the last 5,000 miles go? Well, funny you would ask. As usual, they were filled with great times, good laugts, fantastic roads, out of this world food, and sharing time with some of the best friends one could ever ask for. We headed out to the gathering in Nashville and of course had a blast. Enjoyed trips to the Jack Daniels Distillery, great back roads, and made it down to Wing Ding to see friends and check out some of the latest stuff. The Red Head even stopped in to say hello our good friends from Hannigan, Dave, Ruth Anne, and Herb.
After spending a few days in Nashville the party moved over to the Smoky Mountains where a large group enjoyed some great riding, taking trips to Maggie Valley, where we had a lot of fun and laughs, riding the Tail of the Dragon where we took some newbees, and of course my favorite, visiting the Bakery in Telico Plains. Oh, I have tears in my eyes thinking about the danish I had.
Left for home and made it back in time to round up a large crowd who attended our 8th Annual Mid-Atlantic Mob Lead Pencil Run in Southern Maryland. What a turn out for this Mid October event. Over 70 turned out to help put away over 3 bushel of fresh Maryland Oysters and a bunch of other great food.
Of course once the chill set in the Red Head made a dash for Florida where she finished up the last of the 5,000 miles this week. As you can tell, we were once again traveling on all sorts of roads and conditions. While the weather was basically great for much of this time, while heading up north from visiting a good friend in Charleston, SC, we ran smack into ALL of that rain, and I am happy to report that while I got soaked, the Red Head did extremely well and the Hannigan HMS 180 stuck to the road as if it was on a track. I want to you to take a look at this picture from our running the Tail of the Dragon where you can see how the front tire has flattened a bit and look at the "patch" of tire that is now in contact with the road. The Red Head ran the Dragon like a wild woman and cornered like a sports car.
After all of this, the front tire is now down just over 1 MM since the last report having gone from 5 MM to slightly under 4 MM.
I think there is little question that this front tire is going to get to 50,000 miles and possibly more. The cupping reported earlier is stable, and as you can see in the Dragon picture the tire has flattened out a bit, but I have no noticeable issues with this at all. I have spent hours in the saddle and my shoulders feel fine after long rides and no problems at all while having fun in Maggie Valley with the challenging roads and conditions. Lets see what the next 5,000 miles brings.
