For years I have been thinking about this and the other day, I was looking around on Amazon.com and found these switches. I opted to pay a little more ($5.29) and get them shipped me quick (I'm a Amazon Prime member) as opposed to waiting 4-6 weeks. I popped open the garage door opener and soldered a wire to each side of the switch and then using the soldering iron, I melted a small "U" shaped hole so the wire could come out the side of the opener. I also soldered wire to the switch. I put some "butt connectors" on the ends of the wires so I could easily disconnect the opener from the switch if I needed to change the battery. I drilled a small hole in the left fairing pocket and mounted the switch. Using Velcro, I attached the opener to the underside of the pocket door. I taped everything up neatly and used some hot glue to seal the contacts of the switch. Works perfect. The only thing is I now have five extra swtiches. I'm putting them in the bike. If you ever want to do this and you see me out and about, ask me for a switch. They're $1. It'll save you from having to buy six like I did. The end result: If you have questions about how to do this, let me know and I'll try to help. And yes, the pocket door still "springs" open when I push the release. The opener is very light.
