Every time I log on, I check over at the 'Members' list, sorted by when the most recent user was logged into the forum.
Additionally, there seems to be an email sent (you may or may not get it...) when a new thread is posted here.
Thus, my attempt yet again for a little more activity here.
Which would really make a fine place *away* from those other places to have ridin' related chat.
So, now I go and fight with Basecamp - time to make some GPX files for my upcoming get-away!

I love basecamp..........then again, I love those things that challenge me. It's beating me into submission and I figure that about the time I actually get it, they will do away with it.

I've (sorta) figured out that if you use lat/long instead of addresses and crap like that, BC and the GPS will take you *exactly* to that point.
Even if you can't get to that exact spot, since the damn road was closed for construction.

Try it with a 396. I switched to the 396 becauseof memory limits and dim screen on the old 2730. Took 3 months to learn Basecamp and prepare daily routes from home Williams, AZ. Loaded them in, and the fifth dat the GPS resets itself going down the road and looses the routes and the tracks from travel so far. Glad I took the laptop (intended to just take a tablet). Loaded the routes up in Basecamp and they had changed! I used tons of via points. Oh, how I miss my 2730 and Mapsource.

I have the Zumo XT now and I have noticed that it does change things if I am not diligent with putting a few more waypoints in the route. BUT, the brought back the slid bar for "adventure riding" and now I often just select where I want to go and use that feature and it keeps me on the back roads and off the interstate.

My routes were quite adequate...
Anyway, more of the same, or should we deviate?

A suggestion for those using a 396 (and maybe the XT) - change the GPS vehicle (top of the intro screen) to auto. The unit tends to do less crazy rerouting if you get off track that way.
