No, I'm still on cable TV but I have cut the cord on my 2004 GL1800A.
As many know, GWRRA closed its doors 2 months ago and the chapter I have been associated with (actually group of friends because we went from GWRRA to GWTA back to GWRRA) since 2004 has gone to almost no riding! Can you believe it Gold Wing owners not riding? ? ?
Well, I love to ride and at the time I got my Gold Wing I also joined an internet motorcycle group. I was never active in that group because back then the chapter was really a riding group. Come forward 18 years and nada riding. I went back to the internet group and wow are "we" riding.
So this new group of young riders do not have CBs! I talked to several of the leaders and they advised that they were using Sena headsets. . Off to the internet for Sena. I have to say I'm IMPRESSED with this new technology.
I got a Sena 50s headset. Got it updated, connected to my phone so I could update the software, and paired it to my Garmin Zumo 595LM and headed out for a ride. Worked great - I could hear my mp3 music on the Garmin and riding directions. Then I joined the group for a ride and I could talk to other riders - back to the CB days except I don't have to push a button to talk. Now the added benefit is I also have a Kawasaki Vulcan 750 with a Garmin Zumo 660 that I have never been able to enjoy long rides because the engine drowns out the mp3 music playing. NOW I paired my Sena 50s to my Garmin Zumo 660 and I'm off riding down the road on my CRUISER! Life isn't good, it has become GREAT!
I still want to include the Gold Wing riders who I do ride with, so I got the Sena Freewire to connect the audio systems (including my CB) to the Sena 50s headset. Again, connected the Freewire to my computer and updated the software. Worked on figuring out the bluetooth sequence to pair everything to act as I want them to.
Turn on the Sena 50s headset, startup the Wing (the Freewire is connected to the power plug in the left pocket so it comes on when the bike is started), wait for Sena to tell me they are connected, and then lock in the Garmin and it pairs.
I now have my CB, MESH communications for other riders bluetooth headsets w/mesh, my music on the Wing, and directions from the Garmin!
This is great.
