Two questions for the electrical "geeks" on this board. Was talking to Wheels tonight and he said if anyone could help with it would be the guys on this board. So here goes !!!! I just got an awesome deal on a 2012 wing with GPS, TPMS and so far I really like the new bike. With that being said, there are two things that I would like to change.
#1. I would prefer to run aftermarket TPMS due to wanting to use another type of tire that will not work with onboard TPMS and don't really want to be cutting and splicing wires. Is there now or in the planning stages any type of plug and play or easy solution to disable the TPMS ??
#2. The onboard GPS works good and seems to be an asset. However it become useless when the bike starts moving, you can't do anything unless you pull over and stop. There are times that it would be more dangerous to pull over to find a gas station or local hotel than to hit a button while on the move... You don't always know prior to leaving where you might need to stop, so programing these stops prior to leaving isn't always possible. So is there any plug and play or way to disable the "safety" features on the GPS ?
Thanks in advance for any and all help..
Bill

For that Tire Pressure thing, contact a CSC trike kit installer or builder, they have a plug to disable the system. Unplug the receiver under the right pocket and plug their jump plug in. Kills the lights.
As for the GPS, nope Fred H was inventing something, but do not think it was plug and play. I use a Zumo and play with it on the go all the time, that factory GPS is so aggravating I only turn it on once in awhile to see if it still works.

Kit....on the GPS, I did some testing and made it work. Wasn't plug and play. You have to disable the speed sensor into the GPS brain in the trunk. Maybe FredH can chime in.

I have never tried it but............in the electronic service manual it has a section that deals with the malfunction of the intended cut off of function of the GPS while the bike is moving. The cause of this malfunction where the GPS does function while the bike is moving is an open circuit from Pin 17 of the GPS connection at the pin connector at the meter panel, it is a black and white wire. I would suspect a simple snip of that wire would allow the GPS to function on the move, just never tried it. Looking at the schematic of the system pin 17 A17 is the wire that does allow the speed sensor to signal the GPS in proper function to not operate while moving by locking out the control panel. If I did try that I would not snip the wire at the meter panel due to it would be a bear to repair it due to lack of room there, I would track it down in the harness and pick a spot easy to fix if it did not work.

On the wiring harness under the seat right side find the white/black wire cut it and put a on/off switch in series. It cuts the speed signal to the nav unit in the trunk then you can do things with the buttons.
