Well, I just got called out at the other place for 'commercial posting' by simply answering a question with the word 'yes'. Amazing.

Lewis, that does not come as a surprise for at least me. The "new Mods" are a collective group of vindictive panty wastes, with one in particular really having a chapped a$$ these days due to "recent results, LOL" "They" know you have created a site that offers many of us old guard guys a chance to once again enjoy a little "keystroking" and they can't do anything about it. I get a kick out of Kansas Goldwing who I am sure is one of them, who works hard on another site as on-the-road and actually tries to moderate that site as well. LOL
You, my friend, have done the unthinkable and offered up another choice for enjoyment. Luther is right in that the old site is still the "old place" and yet:
Truth be told, for me anyway, it's a lot like going by a stately mansion while out riding. Each time you pass, you can't help but look over and think about all the things that went on and the elegance of it all. You know that over the years that "place" was part of some rich history. But, over time, as generations passed, it began to fall into a bit of disarray until one day the old place was sold to new owners who could give a good crap about it's history and the place that it held in the community. They bought it because they thought it was cool that everyone would ride by and look at it, and thus they felt like everyone was "looking at them." But, they had slugs for kids. You know the type. Always starting trouble, never was able to "fit in." Was often picked on in school and viewed as out casts. These same kids would be the ones to end up fooling with drugs, causing fights, and basically be your garden variety worthless off-spring. Yet, these are the kids that inherited the old stately mansion and within no time, are running it into the ground. Now, many ride by to point and while shaking their heads reflect on a time when the old place had better days before "they" moved in. And while sad but funny, "they" interpret the gestures of those old neighbors that are "pointing," as still signs that everyone is "looking at them" when in fact the actions of many are simply to point out the blight and graffiti that has been cast upon the "old home."
Not knowing really what to do, these same kids have put up fences on a several sides of the old place so as to try and hide their actions, destruction, and efforts to keep some out, yet their actions only serve to highlight their juvenile outlook and true inability to be worthy of the keys to the old place to begin with.
We have all seen this during our rides. We all know of a place that would be cool if it were saved as it was such a "fixture" of our enjoyment, but know that while it was built by good people, and had a strong foundation poured, the interior is being gutted by those clueless dopes that hide behind the curtain thinking no one sees them. We know that home will stand for a long time due to the efforts of its founders, but will only be a shell of it's once proud state. However one day the Bankers, who hold the note will come calling, and I suspect one day as we ride by, and point at the Foreclosure sign posted as the kids will have run the place finally into the ground.
The good news is that today, there are new places on the street, and it's cool to see that they contain both new and old. We are, however, reminded that History does have a way of repeating itself, thus having the old place serves as a reminder of what NOT to do.
You, my friend, have a great reputation, and regardless of the efforts of a few, will always be well respected within the "community."

I played on Google today looking for this site and could not find it. I tried every combination of words i would type in if i was searching for a Goldwing board and it did not come up. I do not think this site is open to 'bots" from the search engines. If you got to the "other" site and copy and paste 10-15 words and google it, it will take you right there. I tried it for several phrases here and nothing. Even did a couple sentences with words not very common. This definately needs to be looked at if you want traffic and new visitors. I do not know much about this type stuff but I have played around with it some. If you got to the "other" home page and right click then hit view page source you will see keywords right at the top. If you do the same here you dont see any. You definitely have to have them to be seen by search engines. If it were me I would copy their keywords to this site, then also put "GL1800riders.com" in there also. then when people are looking for that site, this one will come up also. I know one of the key things is to also have the domain name use the main words you want to search. So you really need a domain like GL1800goldwings.com or GL1800forums.com or? You can rearrange other popular domains like rideGL1800.com You can buy doamin names cheap and point them all at one site, this helps with search engines. As many links as possible on other websites helps also. More than 65% of web searches are done with Google, so I would figure out what they like and hone in on that. Lewis needs a banner ad to this board on every page of his website. Then users and friends could go to the popular Facebook pages and ask stuff like "Have anybody here tried this set of foglights, I am thinking about buying them" When they get there they will see the link to the forum. As long as it is not Lewis doing it, it wont look like advertising.

When you have always had an agenda but no way to present/enforce it, you become a Moderator. When you always had your hand up to be picked and never was called on, you become a moderator. When you don't stand out in the crowd because you are to short, you become a moderator. When your dog always greeted everyone else in your family but you, you become a moderator. When your past is questionable/exposed and the only way to silence it, you become a moderator.
